Self-improvement tapes always in the car,
Enough that if laid end-to-end,
Would reach to the moon and back.
Another set, another American Express bill.
Books stacked on the nightstand,
One full of inspirational sayings
Sitting open on the dresser.
Do I journal or meditate tonight?
Bible on the kitchen table,
So I can get a spiritual jump-start
Along with my Rice Krispies,
Before the tragic newspaper.
Prayer provides two-way communication,
Though the line out is a lot clearer
Than the line back.
Thats normal.
Searching far and wide for answers,
They come quietly,
Infusing themselves into my life,
Sometimes without my noticing.
But there is only one source,
Ancient in origin,
Providing the clear black-and-white
Answers which I crave!
Nothing is quite so satisfying as
Divine guidance,
Dispensed free,
In a sweet crunchy package,
(Along with a written request
That I pay for my Mu Shu Chicken).
